AngelList Founder Naval Ravikant and ‘Black Swan’ Author Nassim Nicholas Taleb to Headline BLOCKCON 2018
The BLOCKCON keynote roster is heating up, with AngelList CEO and Founder Naval Ravikant and author Nassim Nicholas Taleb added to this year’s lineup. The industry conference, one of Southern California’s premier blockchain events, returns to the Museum of Flying in Santa Monica on October 10-11, 2018.
Named as one of the Most Influential People in Blockchain by Coindesk, Ravikant runs one of the most popular Crypto Twitter accounts and delivered this powerful 37-part tweetstorm on blockchain, networks, and markets in 2017:
1/ Blockchains will replace networks with markets.
— Naval (@naval) June 21, 2017
In addition to founding AngelList, Naval collaborated with Juan Benet, Founder of Protocol Labs (FileCoin), to build CoinList, a regulated platform for token sales, airdrops, and other future financial services.
Nassim Nicholas Taleb is the author of the landmark “Incerto” series, which is comprised of the following books: Antifragile (2012), The Black Swan (2007-2010), Fooled by Randomness (2001), The Bed of Procrustes (2010), and Skin the Game (2018).
Taleb is a professor at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University and currently the Founder of Emperica LLC. His financial writings are based primarily on his experience in the Finance world where he previously worked as a derivatives trader.
He also has taken to Twitter to discuss his thoughts on Bitcoin, mainly on the shorting and derivatives aspects:
Bitcoin: my answer to the repeated questions.
No, there is NO way to properly short the bitcoin "bubble". Any strategy that doesn't entail options is nonergodic (subjected to blowup). Just as one couldn't rule out 5K, then 10K, one can't rule out 100K.
