Chainalysis Releases ‘2020 Geography of Cryptocurrencies’ Report
Chainalysis has released their 2020 Geography of Cryptocurrency Report, focusing on geographic trends in cryptocurrency adoption, usage, and regulation. The report includes a global heat map and then digs into individual regions, with analysis from a total of 154 countries:
The United States ranked 6th in the world, boosted by the financial wealth of cryptocurrency holders and a large retail investor base. 87% of North American transactions originated from exchanges, pointing to the developed financial infrastructure in the region. The region also surpassed Asia this year in the share of activity from professional investors. Bitcoin is the most owned cryptocurrency at 72%.
