Inaugural Los Angeles ‘Blockchain Week’ Set for October

The members of the Los Angeles blockchain community have been anxiously awaiting the fall conference season to kick-off, especially with a slew of high-profile speaker announcements earlier this summer.

Today, organizers of L.A.’s top blockchain events reveal that they have joined together with entrepreneurs, universities, and investors to announce the first-ever Los Angeles “Blockchain Week.”  The week-long series of blockchain/crypto events aims to connect the global community and will run from October 19 through October 25.

Alon Goren and Josef Holm, who are the organizers of Crypto Invest Summit and early-stage investment fund GHV, said in a joint statement, “Los Angeles is one of the world’s top blockchain and crypto ecosystems. Creating a week-long festival-like environment gives even more incentive for the world to come and join us.”

Two major universities are leading the charge on educating and engaging the Los Angeles community on blockchain technology.  To highlight this important work, event organizers will partner with student-run blockchain organizations at UCLA and USC to present Los Angeles Blockchain Week, hosting talks, lectures, training sessions, and events with thought leaders who are driving the evolution of blockchain and cryptocurrency.

Veronica Reynolds, Co-founder of Blockchain at UCLA, shared her excitement about the inaugural LA event. “Blockchain at UCLA strives to provide high-quality education and networking opportunities to students, and undertakes research and consulting work, so we can’t think of a better way to continue developing our community than by participating in this ground-breaking citywide collaboration of blockchain professionals.”

Adam Levy, Co-President of USC’s Trojan Blockchain Society, remarks that “LA Blockchain Week is bound to be one of the most informative weeks our community has ever encountered in this space.  Trojan Blockchain Society encourages adoption through collaboration, therefore partnering with these high-impact series of events to ensure our community receives quality content and the best career development opportunities is a no-brainer.”

Los Angeles Blockchain Week is comprised of a series of events with the centerpiece being Crypto Invest Summit, the West Coast’s largest crypto conference.  Organizers are offering a single pass to attend all the events for the thousands of founders, developers, investors and entrepreneurs who are expected to descend on downtown LA.

Over a half dozen companies are partnering to present Los Angeles Blockchain Week, including Expert Dojo, StartEngine, GHV Fund.

Howard Marks, Co-founder & CEO of StartEngine, adds that Los Angeles Blockchain Week will be “a major event for the crypto marketplace bringing together all of the leaders from around the world.”

LA Blockchain Week’s slated high-profile speakers include Apple Co-founder Steve Wozniak, investor Tim Draper, SENSE Co-founder Crystal Rose, Former SEC Chairman Christopher Cox, World Economic Forum’s Nadia Hewitt, and Bloomberg reporter Matt Leising.
